Grid Brooch
Sterling Silver / Copper
"This is another piece I made for my Mum a few years ago. I don't think there are a lot of people who would wear copper jewellery, but I really like the colours that come up when heating copper."

Fat Lady Ring
Sterling Silver / 22ct Gold
"This was my first “Fat Lady”. I made her whilst working in Torquay. After having created a Barbie like lady first (according to my boss’s wishes) I was lucky enough to be given some time to play around a bit more with wax carving. I liked that little lady so much that a few years later I made another six, this time in different yoga positions. Have a look at the "Portly Ladies" collection…"

Poison Ring
Sterling Silver / 14ct Gold / Labradorite
"This is my “Gesellenstueck” which I made at the end of my apprenticeship. It contains a little box that can be fitted both ways up into the ring. I was awarded a prize for the best "Jewellery Gesellenstueck" in Saxony in this year, which was great because when I started my apprenticeship my boss predicted that I will probably never become a good goldsmith.

"I made these pieces from an Amber bracelet whilst working in Erfurt during my summer holidays"

Partner Rings
Grenadil (African Blackwood) with Fine Silver
"These rings fit together like lovers. The larger of the two protecting and caressing the other."

“There is no place like home”
Necklace; Sterling Silver, 18ct Yellow Gold and Steel
"I made this necklace for my Mum last year. Despite London having to offer a million more things than the small town I am from, I still love going home as often as possible."

“Nature and Time” Neckpiece
Sterling Silver and “Kontaktfilm”
"I created this neckpiece for the international competition “Nature and Time”, staged by “Deutsches Goldschmiedehaus Hanau” in 2002. The negatives document the blossoming and withering of a flower. I set up my camera in front of a lily and kept taking pictures every day. More than 720 artists from 35 countries took part and my piece was one of about 100 chosen for the exhibition."

“Waterdrop” Rings
Acrylic
"I made these Two-Finger Rings whilst studying at the “Zeichenakademie”. We were lucky enough to have a lathe in our workshop and no one else was using it. So I spent days carving them from big lumps of acrylic. I very much love these rings, and they are actually quite comfortable to wear. In 2003 these rings were selected for presentation at the Inhorgenta Design Podium in Munich."

"Waves" Neckpiece
Waves of Serling Silver link together to form this graceful neckpiece.
"This necklace was my second choice “Meisterstueck”. Everybody had to deliver two different designs and was then told which one to make for the examination. After having completed all exams we still had a couple of weeks to use the workshops at college and I decided I make the necklace. I always find it hard to part with things that took me a long time to make, which is why I still have it. Well, that and the fact that it doesn’t come cheap..."

Two-Finger Ring & Earrings
Sterling Silver and acetate sheets printed with wallpaper designs in black and berry red.
"I played around with these Two-Finger Rings for quite a while, but had to admit defeat in the end. I absolutely love these designs, but unfortunately the time they take to make and the fact that they are not exactly practical made them pretty much unsellable."

“Gossip” Neckpiece
Sterling Silver / Acrylic / Acetate / Enamel
"This Neckpiece is my “Gestalterstueck”. There were only girls in my class (well, apart from Rossano), so there was loads of gossiping all the time, which is why I chose this to be my subject. The idea is that a rumour always starts with a tiny comment behind your back. Then more and more people begin to talk about it, add things on and blow up that tiny comment to a big red hot story. It then circles around your neck for a while until it cools down again and people start to forget about it. In 2007 this neckpiece was chosen for the 00/07 exhibition which displayed outstanding pieces produced at the ZA."

Roller Bangle
|
|
Sterling Silver and 18ct Yellow Gold with Hematite balls.
"This is my “Meisterstueck”. I made it in 2003 at the end of my studies. It is not 100% perfect (which still bothers me a bit), but because it was such a tricky thing to do, I was awarded “Best of my Year”. And when I came to London I submitted this bangle for the Goldsmiths' Craftsmenship and Design awards and won a silver award in 3D Design. Woo hoo!"
