International Jewellery London - What to expect (diamonds on pedestals)

It was a very busy few weeks at the Jana Reinhardt studio leading up to IJL2015! With Hannah and Jana adding the finishing touches to the new collection and making new stock, Ross’s phone working overtime with all the calls and emails and as a team ticking off our to do lists and meticulously applying vinyl stickers for the exhibition stand. I am fairly new to the Jana Reinhardt team (marketing assistant), and was very excited to be a part of the trade show! It was not only my first time attending IJL but was also my first time at the spectacular venue – London Olympia.

IJL is an annual jewellery trade show, and the most established one in the UK with over 500 exhibitors including jewellery designers, manufacturers and gem suppliers. When I arrived I spent some time having a nose around, starting downstairs and being dazzled by all the brightly lit diamonds sparkling away on rotating pedestals. After getting a little side tracked by all the beautiful trays of jewels, I did a whistle stop tour of the rest of the show including all the designer stands upstairs and catching a little bit of the catwalk show. It is a truly spectacular event with so much to see!

(Jana is always happy to pose for a photo)

After having a look around it was time to get to work and I joined the rest of the team at the stand (relieving them for a tea break). It was Jana Reinhardt’s fourth year at IJL and this year was the first time showcasing their TWO new collections! The Cats and Dogs collection as well as their most recent  Animal Welfare Collection that features a minimal collection of necklaces, rings and bracelets. The collection is based on ovals, which are a symbol of creativity and good fortune. The ovals are finished with matte surfaces and high shine polished edges creating a unique and stylish everyday look.

Jana Reinhardt also exhibited seven other of their contemporary jewellery collections including wintery themed ‘Polar Nights’ and the sweet and dainty ‘Hummingbirds’. It was a great experience to help out on the stand and to have the opportunity to speak to other exhibiting designers and potential buyers. The show went really well and it seemed that people were particular drawn to the ‘Cats and Dogs’ collection that was inspired by the phrase “It’s raining cats and dogs”. Featuring a selection of cascading canines and felines in free fall, detailed with deep blue topaz brilliants, pears and marquises. A luxurious range of cats and dogs suspended as pendants and delightfully perched on the tops of rings. We were also lucky enough to be featured in the press in the September issue of ‘Professional Jeweller’ showcasing the stretching Dog Ring for the lead up to the show. Our cat jewellery has been particularly popular this month to!

Until next time IJL!
