Bespoke Bronze Ridgeback Paper Weight

This is the first paper weight I have ever made and I loved carving a bigger dog for a change. This gorgeous ridgeback, called Fat Fat, belongs to a lady in Germany and her five children commissioned us to make this little statue of her beloved dog for her 60th birthday.

After hours and hours of wax carving, Fat Fat, sitting in a sphinx-like pose, started to appear. And after three days the wax was finished. After having had the approval from our clients that it does look like Fat Fat, we sent the wax off to be cast in bronze.

Once back from the caster, we oxidised the bronze and brushed it back to give it a more antique look. We also engraved Fat Fat's name and a little message and the recipient of the beautiful dog paperweight was reduced to tears when presented with this gift.

10000 Dank für Euer wirklich gelungenes Geschenk. Die Wirkung auf mich habt Ihr gesehen. Fat Fat ist deutlich relaxter, klar, cooler Ridge, aber natürlich hab ich ihm auch nicht gesagt, wofür es gemacht wurde. Wer weiß, vielleicht wäre er dann auch nicht mehr so cool ?
